Motorola Cliq XT Reviews
The new Cliq XT is the fifth Android based handset from Motorola and T-Mobile. The Cliq XT cannot be dubbed as simple revamp of the Motorola Cliq as it has number of improvements of its predecessor. The Cliq XT is sleeker than its predecessor as it has onscreen keyboard instead of physical keyboard. It is not only sleeker but it is also wider and taller than its predecessor at 4.59x 2.33x0.48 inches. The Cliq XT is lighter than Cliq at just 4.4 ounces. The difference in dimensions and weight is due to the removal of slider keyboard.
The Cliq XT’s display is same as the one you find on Motorola Cliq and Backflip. It measures 3.1 inch diagonally and has resolution of 320x480 pixels. The touch-sensitive screen looks bright and attractive. However, some users might feel that the text is on slightly smaller side. Due to small display, the QWERTY keyboard feels slightly cramped. The users with big hands will definitely make lot of errors while typing. However, there is one surprise in the form of Swype, which allows you to spell the word by dragging the finger from one letter to another. Another interesting feature is the inclusion of multitouch capabilities. This allows the users to zoom in the web browser and picture galleries by tapping on the screen. However, the multitouch gestures don’t work with the Google Maps.
The primary physical features include navigational pad, LED for alerts, home, back, search and menu buttons, 3.5mm headphone jack, volume rocker, Micro-USB port, microSD memory card slot, power/lock button and dedicated camera activation/capture key.
The Motorola Cliq XT runs on Android 1.5 OS like its predecessor. So, it offers all the features of Cliq XT. The Motorola will provide the upgrade to Android 2.1 around April. The biggest improvement over Cliq is the new music player offered by Cliq XT. The music application integrates a number of applications like music streaming via ShoutCast radio, search videos on YouTube and GoTV, identify songs using SoundHond, and integrated TuneWiki Community.
You also get a number of connectivity options via 3G support, Bluetooth 2.0, quad-band world roaming, and Wi-Fi. You get lots of dedicated apps to provide great browsing experience via YouTube app, Gmail, Gtalk, Google Maps, TeleNav GPA navigator, Slacker Radio, Google voice search, and much more.
The Motorola Cliq XT promises to provide 6.5 hours of talk time and up to 13.5 days of standby time.
