Motorola introduces its latest MC55 business phone

Motorola might be facing problems in the market of consumer handheld but the company is enjoying a successful run in the market of hard-core business handhelds. Motorola’s EDAs (Enterprise Digital Assistants) are gaining popularity these days with people with all walks of business using them a lot more these days. Motorola has consolidated its hard-core business handheld line with the addition of the MC55 line in its EDA family. The MC55 line was announced by the company this week. The MC55 is a Windows Mobile 6.1 device. It is extremely rugged and can withstand drops on a concrete floor or spill of fluid on it with ease.
As far as enterprise buyers are concerned, they will be pretty happy as the phone comes in several different configurations. One of the configurations, the MC5590 is Wi-Fi only, for use within your warehouse or your retail store. The 5590 supports VoIP in case you want to make calls with it. One of the other configurations, the MC5574 boasts of a 2.5G GSM modem that supports AT&T and T-Mobile. The MC5590 configuration has been on the floor for a few months now. The MC5574 configuration is absolutely new.
Phones of both the configurations sport standard numeric, QWERTY, QWERTZ (German) or AZERTY (French) keypads. The 5590 model carries a cursor-key-centric layout. The phones can be got with features like a laser bar code scanner, a 2D scanner, or a 2-megapixel camera plus a bar code scanner. As far as other features are concerned, phones of both the configurations feature 520 Mhz processors, sport 3.5-inch screens that offer a native resolution of 320 × 240 pixels, have slot for a MicroSD memory card, support Bluetooth connectivity, and brag of six hours of talk time. Motorola also offers comprehensive service and support packages with the phones. The MC55 line of EDAs is more affordable than Motorola’s top of the line MC75 line of EDAs. The list price for the MC55 line of Motorola EDAs is $1695-$2035. Motorola will start the sale of full MC55 line by the end of this March.
