MSI GT725-212US Reviews – an impressive budget gaming laptop
The 1,699 MSI GT725-212Us is a nice gaming laptop that offers you all the features that are worth the money that you pay for it. The laptop not only offers great feature set but provides performance that is on par with its competitors.
The laptop is 15.6 inches wide, 12.1 inches deep, 1.05-1.4 inches high, and weighs 7.68 pounds (the AC adapter adds another 1.66 pounds). The laptop is powered by 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000 processor and comes equipped with 4 GB of 800 MHz DDR2 RAM. The graphics are handled by ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4850 graphics card. The laptop is equipped with Intel PM45+ICH9-M chipset and 320GB hard drive, which spins at 7,200rpm. The laptop comes with preinstalled Windows Vista Home operating system.
From outside, the GT-725 series laptops have pretty simple design with a black brushed-aluminum lid but the internal design is a totally different affair. The speaker grille, which is located above the keyboard, is designed in ferrari-red and shiny silver. The array of touch sensitive controls above the keyboard looks brilliant in black-and-red.
The GT725 is lighter than the other laptops of its category. At 7.68 pounds, the laptop can be classified among the lightest 17-inch desktop replacements laptops. The GT725 is much lighter than the 13-pound Asus W90Vp-X1, and the 9.1-pound Gateway FX P-7805u. The GT725 is not only lighter then the two but it is priced much lower and still manages to offer Blu-ray drive and 1080p resolution. Another interesting feature of the laptop is one button Turbo overclocking, which increase the CPU speed by up to 15 percent. The Eco touch-button allows you to choose one of the many performance modes which include power saver mode, Office, Gaming, Movie, and Presentation.
The laptop sports a 17-inch-wide LCD screen, which has native resolution of 1920×1200 pixels. It means that the laptop is perfect for watching HD content. The display is provided with matte antiglare coating, which quite useful while watching movies and playing games.
The laptop is equipped all the ports and connectors that one might expect. These include VGA-out, HDMI port, 4 speakers + subwoofer (Dolby), headphone/microphone jacks, audio line in/out, 7.1 output, 3 USB 2.0, mini-FireWire, eSATA port, SD card reader, ExpressCard/54, Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Blu-ray combo drive.
This is the best gaming laptop out there yet so get your hands on one!!!I’ve been using it for 4 weeks and everything is perfect with high fps in all the latest games!! Not to forget that I got a 10500 score with 3dmark 06 and 5800 in vantage.
The video card is superb, and every game that I have played through it: Runes of Magic, TF2 – and they both run at the highest setting, with everything maxed. This laptop blows away my desktop – and it’s large enough to replace the desktop and be your main rig.
This laptop put performance and functionality over portability. You should also be aware, the battery does not sit flush with the back, it has about a 1 inch lip that protrudes from the back.
