The $350 Nextar SNAP7’s is there to attract the users with its incredibly large display of 7 inches. There is not doubt that it is the most noticeable feature of the device. The SNAP7 offers the similar features like the other portable devices from the manufacturer, which includes the M3-03 and the Q4. But the SNAP7 offers more screen real estate than the typical 4.3-inch display models that are present in abundance. Two years ago, Garmin launched the StreetPilot 7200, which is the only device in the market to feature a 7-inch display and it is priced much higher at $799.99.
Measuring 3.95 inches high, 7.75 inches wide, 0.7 inch deep, the Nextar SNAP7 is an impressive device that weighs almost 16 ounces. The SNAP7 not only has large display but it also offers all the features that suits perfectly to its stature.
The GPS device is equipped with TeleAtlas maps Unites States and Canada on a 2GB SD card along with 1.6 million POIs. As compared to the 6 million POIs of Magellan Maestro 4350, it is on the lower side. The Nextar provides a number of accessories with the device, which includes AC and DC power adapters, carrying case, suction-cup mounting bracket, dashboard mount, USB cable and a stylus.
The device offers some basic and advanced features, which include entering the destination or itinerary according to address, coordinates, a favorite, or a POI. Entering the address is pretty simple and you can choose the keyboard layout in eight different languages. You have the option of selecting a route according to fastest time, shortest distance, and a combination of both. The device is capable of showing all the different routes on one summary screen, which you not find on any other device.
Other features offered by the SNAP7 includes 3D, 2D North Up, and 2D Track Up map views, text to speech functionality, POI search based on 19 categories and many subcategories. However, some important features are missing such as, Bluetooth capability and support for live traffic. These features are offered by many other devices available in the market.
