It is beyond doubt that the Nokia is the leading cell phone manufacturer in the world and delivers handsets which provide good call quality. The Nokia 1606 is a low-end phone but the Nokia failed to deliver the good call quality. The 1606 disappoints the users as it provides distorted and buzzy sound. The Nokia 1606 is priced at $119.
The Nokia 1606 looks really great with its silver/black flip. The handset is 3.3 inches tall, 1.7 inches wide and 0.6 inch deep. The handset is very light and weighs just 2.3 ounces. The front panel of the handset features a black and white display which information about time and caller ID. The display has resolution of 96×32 pixels. The inner display measures 1.8 inches and offers a resolution of 128×160 pixels. The keypad below the display features black and glossy flat keys. The handset houses a 2.5mm headset jack along with the volume rocker on the side and flashlight which is located on the hinge.
The Nokia 1606 lacks the Bluetooth capability but is supports the voice dialing. To use this feature you need to record a tag for each name manually. The ringtones sound quite loud on the 1606. So, you can trust the 1606 while working in noisy surroundings. Moreover, the vibrating alert is very sharp. The 1606 also lacks the camera and music player. These features could have been real plus for the handset. The Nokia has rated the 1606 with 3.5 hours of talk time which seems to be quite good considering the lightweight of the handset. The handset has WAP browser though it doesn’t support mobile e-mail or Instant Messaging. The handset features a number of games- Kakuro, Sudoku and Minesweeper. It also has built in memory of 8MB for storing ringtones, wallpapers etc.
The Nokia 1606 has pretty decent signal reception which is better than its rivals. But the most disappointing thing about the 1606 is its call quality. When the volume is increased, the sound starts distorting. The same thing happens when you use the speakerphone.
