Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic Latest iPhone Killer
Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic review, nicknamed Tube, is Nokia’s into the modern world of touch-screen phones. The device has some features that are typical to the Nokia mobile phones. The device is designed to target the world market, particularly the Asian countries.
The device has an impressive LCD touch-screen with a resolution of 640×360. There is also a stylus input option for those who prefer handwriting than using the keyboard. The colors and brightness makes the screen looks a bit dull, which certainly reduces the glare. The backside of the phone is provided with a very loud speaker, although it not very clear. The top of the device is provided with a 3.5mm jack.
Tube’s 3.2 megapixel camera captures great pictures in daylight and in low light; it is like any other mobile camera. There is a powerful dual LED flash to help out with that. In addition, Tube is equipped with Wi-Fi, GPS and a microSD slot with a free 8GB memory card. The phone is designed in such a way that it is very comfortable to hold in one hand which is not true for all touch-screen phones.
The Nokia 5800 phone is based on S60 which is definitely not going to appeal to the S60-phobic US. It seems like that Nokia has just turned the traditional user interface into touchable version. You have four options to input the text: handwriting with the stylus (that certainly appeals to the Asian market), a mini QWERTY board (stylus-based), full QWERTY board and alphanumeric keypad.
The touchable web browser does not show much improvement over the existing WebKit. It is not possible to copy and paste the text from the web pages and its tap to zoom feature is unreliable. But viewing the web pages on the 640×360 LCD is good experience. The graphics are really good and watching videos is at full resolution is pretty good.
Nokia 5800 designed to concentrate on calling and texting with numerous multimedia features. The screen certainly makes video watching pleasurable but still the device lags behind the iPhone. Nokia 5800 definitely promises more in the improved versions.
