Nokia 6500 Classic Reviews

nokia-6500-classicMeasuring 4.3 inches tall 1.77 inches wide by 0.37 inch deep, and weighing 3.31 ounces, the Nokia 6500 Classic offers you everything that you can expect from a typical Nokia handset. The 6500 Classic provides you blend of candy-bar design, a simple interface, midrange feature set, and decent call quality. Currently, the 6500 Classic doesn’t feature on the list of any U.S. carrier and you can get it unlocked for just $279.

The 6500 Classic sports a 2-inch display which has native resolution of 320×240 pixels and support for 16.7 million colors. You have option to adjust font color and size but you cannot adjust the backlighting time and brightness. The handset uses the Series 40 fifth-edition menus, which are pretty intuitive and simple to use.

The navigation array of the handset is quite spacious and it consists of toggle surrounding central OK button along with two soft keys, and the Talk and End/power buttons. The toggle can also be used to access four user-defined features. You will be a bit disappointed to know that the handset lacks dedicated volume rocker, which means that the volume can be controlled via toggle while attending the call. The exterior features of the handset includes camera with flash, a micro-USB/charger port.

The basic features of the handset includes phone book with each entry holding five phone numbers along with address, e-mail address, nickname, birthday, a URL, a company name and job title, and notes. Other basic features include text and multimedia messaging, notepad, vibrate mode, calculator, alarm clock, a calendar, a to-do list, speaker phone, world clock, a voice recorder, a countdown timer, and a stopwatch.

The advanced features offered by the handset include stereo Bluetooth, currency and unit converter, voice commands, audio messaging, USB mass storage, an internal-search app, PC syncing, and Web-based e-mail. You also get support for Yahoo Go, which allows you to access your e-mail and Yahoo content.

The 6500 Classic sports a 2.0-megapixel camera which is capable of capturing JPEG images in seven resolutions, from 1,600×1,200 down to 160×120. Other camera features include adjustable white balance, five color effects, self-timer, three quality settings, a digital zoom, a multishot mode, and a night mode. The built-in camcorder can capture MPEG-4 videos in two resolutions- 176×144 and 128×96, and three quality settings. For storing your music, images and videos, the camera provides 1GB of internal storage. But you cannot expand the memory with memory card.

The music application supports MP3, MP4, eAAC+, AAC, and WMA files. Other features include playlists creation and editing, shuffle and repeat modes, equalizer with four presets and two customizable settings.
