Nokia Mirage 2605 from Verizon Wireless

nokia-2605-mirageNokia does not have many CDMA cell phones and Mirage 2605 is latest entrant to its CDMA range of cell phones. It is evident from the flimsy design of the cell phone that Nokia has barely given any thoughts to the Mirage. Neither the design looks durable nor the accessories supplied with the phone which include the replaceable “Xpress-on snaps” which cover the area around the camera and are meant for personalization only. Measuring 3.29×2.33×1.65 inches, this plastic device weighs 2.33 ounces and feels cheap.

As its reviews, Mirage’s external display provides resolution of 128×128 pixels and has native support for 65,000 colors. The external display shows basic information such as date, time, battery life, signal strength, and photo caller ID. The left edge of the device houses volume rocker, Micro-USB/charger port and 2.5mm headset jack whereas the right edge houses a speaker, and a voice-dialing control.

When you flip open the device, you will notice the 2-inch internal display which looks rather small considering the total size of the device. The display looks bright and you can also set the backlighting time, font size and clock format display. You also have the option to choose from three different menu designs. Whichever menu design you choose, each one is pretty intuitive.

The navigation array located below the display includes a four-way toggle control which surrounds the central OK button. In addition to that there are two soft keys, control for speakerphone, Talk and End/Power keys, a camera shortcut, and a clear key. The navigation keys are provided with adequate spacing between them. The keypad looks rather flushed and feels cheap when the keys are pressed, though the keys are big and printed with large numbers.

The Mirage offers all the basic features which include 500-contact phone book, vibrate mode, text messaging, MMS, world clock, stop watch, a calculator, a calendar, notepad, and an alarm clock. The advanced features of Mirage include Bluetooth, IM, voice commands and dialing, Web-based e-mail, and VZ Navigator GPS service.

The Mirage boasts of a VGA camera which is capable of capturing images in three resolutions- 640×480, 320×240, and 160×120 pixels. The camera features include white balance, brightness settings, self-timer, five color effects and three shutter sounds, and a silent option. As expected the Mirage does not have any flash. The Mirage doesn’t have any built-in camcorder for recording video and provides built-in memory of 18MB.

Nokia claims that the Mirage provides 3.5 hours of talk time and 10 days of standby time.
