NXP Semiconductors has announced the launch of its fourth generation of silicon tuners in the form of TDA18272. The silicon tuner is highly helpful for cable TV and terrestrial reception. It is also said to offer compatibility for digital TV and analog standards all over the world.
As the features, the TDA18272 is a only one of its kind device with a small form factor and is measured around 40 pin, 6mm x 6mm package. The NXP silicon tuner is also claimed to be one of the useful devices for ultra-slim TV architectures and exceedingly included, low power.
The TDA18272 is also said to come with oscillators, RF tracking filters, wide band gain control and IF selectivity. It doesn’t need any external components, such as; Baluns or SAW filters.
The TDA18272 is a dubbed as a production-proven silicon tuner. It will certainly work as reliable alternative of CAN tuners. In case of CAN tuners, the transistors are replaced vacuum tubes during the 60s.
As widely seen the TV broadcast tuners are changing dramatically. Due to this, the older radio RF analog circuits will be replaced with silicon tuners. NXP’s silicon tuners will enhance the design-in process. It will bring down the production cost and enhance the production. It will also manage space in multi-tuner systems and bring down energy requirements.
It is an open secret that the STB and TV tuners are outdated. It has made technological progress very tough for several reasons. To solve this problem, the companies are experimenting with highly integrated solutions. Finally, NXP has achieved the feet when it displayed the reliable TDA18272 TV tuner.
Besides, the TDA8296 IF demodulator was also displayed by NXP Semiconductors as a companion chip for global analog TV demodulation. The demodulator also comes with a video gain equalizers and an built-in programmable group delay. The silicon tuner is compatible with PAL, SECAM and NTSC analog standards. It also supports DVB-T/C, DVB-T2, ATSC, ISDB-T and DMB-T digital standards. The TDA18272 can be purchased for the price of $1.5 per unit.
