So far, we have had several eco-friendly and recycled devices from lots of environment conscious companies, and now, Oberthur Technologies has also joined the league with its EcoSIM, which touts to be the 1st patented environment-friendly SIM card in the market.
As the features, the ground-breaking SIM card is smaller than a traditional SIM and brings up to 50 per cent amount of reduction in the plastics use. In addition, the carbon dioxide meted out per card, is also brought down from 16g to 8g.
Xavier Drilhon, MD, Card Systems Division at Oberthur Technologies, quoted to say that EcoSIM takes innovations ahead of technological advances and is capable of reducing the ecological footprint for the end users and consumers together.
Amusingly, the ‘green’ SIM card is also touted to come with the capacity of reducing the carbon footprint for overall waste and transport with the use of recycled paper and FSC & PEFC certified materials. Up till now SIM cards were created on sheets of plastic through a credit card size format. This patented process help manufacture these two SIM cards on a single sheet of plastic.
As the reviews, EcoSIM and the entire range of eco-friendly packaging materials is slated to be shown at the CARTES & Identification exhibition at the Oberthur Technologies stand 3G001 from November 17 to 19 in Paris.
Well, looking at the frequent launch of eco-friendly products, it seems we all have started considering about our environment. So far, several eco-friendly products, such as; mobile phones, accessories, and more, have been launched by different companies, but the way, today, we have a eco-friendly SIM card, the day is not far, when all things around us will be environment-friendly.
I wouldn’t thank environment conscious people, but the fear that fuelled their awareness towards environment protection. So, the EcoSIM will perfectly meet the needs of eco-aware people, and at least add something to improve the environment.
