Ocean II (OZ 2) – upcoming offspring of Pantech and Helio


helioocean-iiThe Ocean II (also known by the name OZ 2), which is a sequel of the popular Ocean series mobile from Helio, is expected to be released during February or March this year. Virgin Mobile (USA) has officially acquired Helio in the month of June 2008 and so the new Helio Ocean II is now part of their offerings. Although the handset has been the point discussion and news since past one year, but the release was delayed quite a number of times.

The new version of the mobile is exactly the same in look and concept as the previous version. The Pantech’s dual slider case that offers both numeric keypad as well as a full QWERTY keyboard has been introduced for easy and smooth typing. Featured with a 2 megapixel shooter, a QVGA screen, the mobile supports EV-DO 3G and stereo Bluetooth. The built in GPS help the users to connect to his/her GPS service at any point of time. Besides it is equipped with all the latest technologies that offer quick transfer of files or media to and from any system. Measuring approximately 4.56 x 2.28 x 0.79 inches in dimension and weighing approx. 5.61 oz, the Helio Ocean II is also integrated with a MP3 player and a Lithium-Ion battery of 1320 mAh. Some of the additional features of the mobile phone include support for caller groups, capacity of 2500 names, Picture ID, Ring ID and multiple numbers for each contact.

The Ocean II features a display that can quickly change to portrait or landscape modes, on rotating the devices horizontally or vertically. The integrated 2 megapixel high resolution camera supports both still and videos. The device also has full HTML browser to let the users surf the Internet smoothly and support for Microsoft’s Exchange and POP3 email client. The mobile has a built in memory of 512 MB, which can be expanded upto 2 GB by microSD card slot. Although the launching of the device has been confirmed by Virgin Mobile, but there are still no news of the price and availability of it.
