The E-520 is a revamped version of Olympus’s Evolt E-510 digital SLR camera. But those expecting drastic difference between the two models, will be disappointed. There are very few changes made by the Olympus. The E-520 features a slightly larger screen which measures 2.7 inches whereas the E-510 sports a 2.5-inch LCD. Moreover it comes with a larger battery and some additional features which include the image stabilization. The E-520 is priced at $700 and comes with a 14mm-to-42mm lens. However, the body only version is priced at $600.
The E-250 is a 10-megapixel camera which features the Four Thirds System for mounting the lens and sensor design. The advantage of this system is that it increases the effective length of the lens up to two times.
The E-520 has an improved design which makes it easier to hold and carry the camera in your hand. It offers plenty of option to play with which include spot-metering, white balance, wireless flash controls, RAW and JPEG settings, and noise-control levels. But you can only see the settings on the LCD as there is not additional dedicated display for viewing camera settings, which many other SLR offers you.
The digital slr camera offers a number of basic features meant for those who are new to SLR. A dial located on the top edge allows you to select from a number of modes- landscape, sports, night portrait, portrait and macro. You can also choose from auto and manual mode as well as aperture or shutter priority mode. The back panel features a number of controls for white balance, focus lock, exposure and ISO.
The E-250 takes great photos at lower ISO but as you increase the ISO, you will notice significant noise. The images look saturated and unnatural when you use the landscape mode. The outdoor images look very sharp and bright. On the other hand, images are not over-sharpened. But the image quality becomes poorer as you increase the ISO. The images taken indoors are looks bit muddy and shows distortion in dark areas.
