Olympus has taken its range of waterproof/shockproof/freeze proof TOUGH cameras to another level with the addition two new cameras- the 12 Megapixel µ TOUGH-8000 and the 10 Megapixel µ TOUGH-6000. Both the cameras sports 3.6x optical zoom lenses which are perfect for capturing shots of rugged terrain with zooming in on the distant bits. With the inclusion of Dual Image Stabilization, the Olympus has been able to remove the blur caused by camera shake. Both the models feature TAP Control, which means you can play with the camera by simply tapping on their body. This feature comes very handy while wearing the gloves.

The µ TOUGH-8000 lies at the top of Olympus’ range of rugged cameras. The camera is a perfect option for those who want to take the things to extreme limits. The camera is waterproof the till the depth of 10m, can stand against the fall up to 2m, and freezeproof till -10°C and crushproof to 100kg.

The µ TOUGH-6000 is also a freezeproof camera. The camera is waterproof till the depth of 3m and can stand the drops from up to 1.5m.

Both the cameras sport lenses with 3.6x wide optical zoom which was seen for the first time on Olympus’ Award winning µ 1030 SW. The 28mm wide-angle lens is perfect for capturing landscapes and architectural shots. The lens is capable of zooming in up to 102mm. The Dual Image Stabilization ensures blur free images even in the challenging conditions. Both models sport 2.7-inch LCD screen and the menus are operated through Tap Control.

Though the cameras are rugged and insensitive to tough conditions but they are sensitive enough to capture incredible shots. In addition to the 12 and 10-megapixels resolution, the images can be enlarged as much as you want. The Face Detection Technology enables the µ TOUGH-8000 to recognize three human faces in an image. The µ TOUGH-6000 goes one step ahead of its sibling with its Advanced Face Detection Technology which is capable of recognizing up to 16 faces. In addition to that, the TOUGH-6000 is equipped with Smile Shot and Beauty Mode, which removes the lines and wrinkles. The Shadow Adjustment Technology and Intelligent Auto Mode ensure high quality images.
