Measuring 4.6 inches high, 2.4 inches wide, 0.6 inch deep, the Pharos Traveler weighs 5.1 ounces and looks like a smartphone, which focuses on GPS navigation. The $530 handset comes unlocked and it can be used with AT&T and T-Mobile network in the U.S. The handset can be used with any network provider outside U.S.
The handset boasts of 2.5-inch touch screen, which has native resolution of 320×240 pixels and supports 65k colors. The navigation array below the display consists of a trackball, Send, Menu, OK, and End buttons. The handset also sports a QWERTY keyboard, which houses large and spacious keys for error free texting.
The left spine of the handset houses the volume rocker along with dedicated voice recorder controls and a microSD memory card slot, while the right spine houses dedicated control for Smart Navigator and a control to launch Windows Live, which also doubles as camera key. The top edge houses power/ keyboard lock button and 2.5mm headphone jack, while the bottom edge houses a mini USB jack port.
The Pharos Traveler 127 is a Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional phone, which means it offers all the features that you will find on any other Windows handset. It is equipped with Microsoft Office Mobile suite, which allows you to edit Word and Excel document editing along with ability to view the PowerPoint presentations. You can configure the handset with Microsoft Outlook and Exchange Server to access your email accounts.
As mentioned earlier, the Pharos Traveler 127 is a GPS-focused handset as it comes with Ostia Smart Navigator. The GPS features include turn-by-turn voice directions along with live traffic. However, it lacks text-to-speech feature, which can be found on the handset that supports TeleNav navigator.
The handset sports a 2-megapixel camera, which is capable of capturing images as well as the videos. It also sports a VGA camera that can be used for video calls. The camera does not have flash or autofocus option.
The included music applications supports MP3 and WMA music formats as well as the WMV and AVI video formats.
