The Polywell Poly X5800i could have been the best desktop computer if its internal design would have been better. The Poly X5800i is a powerful desktop computer but its competitors provide similar performance and are priced lower.

The system is powered by Intel Core i7 965 Extreme CPU and 6GB of DDR3 RAM. The processor runs equally faster as the 3.2GHz processor of Falcon Northwest Mach V, which is the fastest gaming PC in the market. The system runs on the Windows Vista Ultimate (64-bit) operating system. The X5800i provides storage of 792GB for your data. The storage unit consists of two Seagate Cheetah SAS drives of 146GB each, spinning at 15000rpm. The other drive is 500GB Seagate Barracuda which spins at 7200rpm.

The most stunning piece of hardware is its 2GB ATI Radeon HD 4870×2 graphics board. The 4870×2 is a very fast graphic card but it failed to provide the fastest performance due to the RAID card setup. Moreover, you do not have any space for multiple graphics boards.

The system provides you with two 5.25-inch bays for expansion in case you decide to upgrade the system. So, there are not many options for expansion. On expansion slot is used by the hard drive bay which can be ejected and locked manually.

The X5800i provides large number of ports and connectors. The X5800i provides eight USB ports, one FireWire 400 port, two eSATA ports, 5.1-channel surround sound, an optical S/PDIF connection and one gigabit Ethernet port. The front of the system has two USB ports, eSATA port and media card reader.

The X5800i is a very pricey desktop computer. You need to pay S3399 for the system and $400 extra in case you go for the 24-inch AL2416WB wide-screen display from the Acer. The system also includes a Logitech two-button mouse along with the Logitech Y-SV39 keyboard. The keyboard’s function buttons can be used for launching a number of applications such as e-mail, Web browser etc.
