The Samsung BD-P2550 Blu-ray disc player, priced at $399.99, boasts of being the first feature-complete standalone Blu-ray player and also boasts of the ability to stream Netflix video and Pandora audio. The player brags of having impressive video-processing capabilities and promises on versatility and performance. The BD-P2550 is a minimal upgrade from the previous BD-P1500 player. The remote control of the BD-P2550 is quite identical to the P1500’s narrow, baton-style remote. The upgrade in design consists of illuminated markings on the on-display controls against the raised characters of BD-P1500’s controls. These markings disappear when the player is turned off.
As far as video output is concerned, it includes HDMI and component video. For audio output, the player boasts of optical (TOSLINK) and 7.1-channel analog outputs. You can easily set up the player without much effort. You can easily configure Netflix and Pandora streaming services. However, video quality of the Netflix stream depends upon the quality of the Internet connection.
The player boasts of an HQV-based video processor. This feature enables the player to display the best ever up-converted DVD video quality. The player however is fast from being energy efficient. It offers an operating cost of $0.77/month.
