Samsung Exclaim SPH-M550 Reviews – dual slider handset available via Sprint

The Samsung Exclaim SPH-M550 is dual slider phone, which is available via Sprint $79.99 with a two-year contract and a mail-in rebate. Measuring 4.45 inches high, 2.24 inches wide and 0.67 inch deep, the Exclaim is a large handset like any other dual slider phone. The 4.9 ounces handset still manages to fit in average sized pocket.
The large size of the handset allows it to accommodate a large display. The Exclaim sports a 2.6-inch display, which ahs native resolution of 320×240 pixels and supports 262k color hues. The navigation array consists of two soft keys along with a toggle surrounding the central OK button, a Back key, dedicated speakerphone control, and the Talk and End/power button. You can access the alphanumeric keypad by sliding the front of the handset upwards.
The left spine houses the volume rocker, while the right spine houses camera shutter control along with microSD memory card slot and Micro-USB port. Like many other Samsung handsets, the Exclaim sports a 2.5mm headset jack instead of standard 3.5mm headset, which is quite disappointing as you will have use an adapter. The rear of the handset houses the camera lens along with a self-portrait mirror.
The basic features that you will find on Exclaim include a 600-contact phone book, text messaging, MMS, vibrate mode, speakerphone, alarm clock, world clock, calendar, calculator, a tip calculator, and a memo pad. The advanced users will definitely appreciate the inclusion of stereo Bluetooth, IM, voice recorder, USB transfer, MMS storage, voice dialing and voice commands. The Exclaim being an EV-DO handset also supports features like Sprint Radio, Sprint TV and Sprint Movie.
Other enticing features of the handset include support for POP3 e-mail and IMPAP4-e for accessing Outlook Web Access, Contact and Calendar. The Exclaim also offers integrated apps for accessing Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, NFL Mobile Live, Sprint Social Zone, Nascar Sprint Cup Mobile, Google maps, Google search, Sprint Navigation, and Sprint Family Locater. You also have option to add Google documents, news, and photos.
The music player application supports popular file formats like MP3, AAC, AAC+, and WMA. The music features only includes shuffle and repeat modes, and support for album art. You can also download the music from the Sprint Music Store.
The handset sports a 2-megapixel camera that can capture stills as well as the videos. The camera captures stills in five resolutions and three quality settings. Other camera features include five white balance presets, adjustable brightness, self-timer, 3x digital zoom, spot metering and much more.
The Exclaim has a rated battery life of 4.75 hours talk time.
