Samsung Highlight SGH-T749 available via T-Mobile

Samsung has launched a series of touch-screen models and it seems there is no end to it. Since August last year, Samsung has been in the business of launching a huge variety of touch screen models for a wide range of carriers. The latest in the series of Samsung models is the Samsung Highlight SGH-T749, put forward for T-Mobile. Samsung has coined a term for this model. It calls it the “touch-screen phone for the masses”.
The phone supports a decent design, features the company’s TouchWiz interface, and is good in terms of performance. Moreover, the phone supports T-Mobile’s 3G network and features a superior camera and a high profile music player. The phone carries a price tag of a mere $149 on contract.
As the features, the phone is sleek in design and measures about 4.27 inches by 2.11 inches by 0.54 inch. The phone is pretty lightweight at about 3.7 ounces. It feels extremely good to touch and fits every pocket easily. The phone boasts of a solid body and features extra girth; however, its plastic battery cover is a bit of disappointment. The screen of the phone is about three inches big and displays about 16 million colors at a resolution of 400 × 240 pixels. This resolution accounts for bright, vibrant graphics, excellent images, and sharp colors. The display supports Samsung’s TouchWiz interface. The phone features both a standard alphanumeric and a virtual keyboard.
The phone book can hold about 2,000 contacts. The phone features 17, 72-chord, polyphonic ringtones. The phone has almost all essential features. The advanced features on the handheld are voice dialing, an RSS reader, USB mass storage, file manager, instant messaging, voice memo recorder, Web-based POP3 e-mail, GPS support, and stereo Bluetooth.
The camera on the phone has a 3 megapixels sensor and accounts for excellent images and video recording. The phone has an internal memory of 60MB but you can expand it up to 16 GB using the microSD-card slot. The music player is excellent with features like repeat mode, equalizer, bass settings etc. The battery life of this phone gives about 6.5 hours of talk time.
