The Samsung SGH-T349 is a messaging handset that is available via T-Mobile for just $15 with a two-year service agreement. The handset sports a simple candy bar profile and is very compact in size. The handset is 4.49 inches high, .97 inches wide, 0.53 inch deep and weighs just 3.2 ounces. The SGH-T349 will easily fit your pocket and you won’t feel due to its light weight and thin profile. The handset is solidly built and looks attractive in it’s the lime green and pearl gray color scheme.
The handset boasts of a 2.2-inch color display, which supports 262k color hues. The display is quite impressive as both the text and graphics looks pretty bright. You have numerous options to customize the display as you can choose the wallpaper for the home screen, adjust the font size and color, choose your favorite background color for dialing display, choose menu interface, adjust the backlight time, choose from a number of themes.
The navigation array consists of four-way toggle with central OK button, two soft keys, a back button, the Send and End/Power keys, and a dedicated messaging key. The messaging key can be programmed to access one of the many messaging apps, which include IM, text messaging, audio postcard, e-mail, or just straight to your in-box.
The SGH-T349 is the first handset to sport a partial QWERTY keyboard that houses just 20 keys. But the keyboard is quite impressive as the keys are large in size and well spaced. Other external features include a microSD card slot located on the left spine, while the right spine houses dedicated camera button and charger jack.
The SGH-T349 offers all the basic features that include a 1,000-entry phonebook, text messaging, multimedia messaging, speakerphone, voice recorder, vibrate mode, world clock, alarm clock, unit converter, a to-do list, timer, stopwatch, note pad, calculator, and a tip calculator.
The advanced users will appreciate the audio postcard, instant messaging with support for Yahoo, AIM and Windows live, wireless Web browser, mobile Web e-mail, and stereo Bluetooth. The music app supports MP3, AAC/AAC+, and MIDI file formats, while the video player supports MPEG-4, H.263, and 3GP video formats.
The handset sports a 1.3-megapixel camera that captures still in six resolutions. The main camera features include white balance presets, self timer, 4x optical zoom, and nine color effects. The built-in camcorder records video in three resolutions and three lengths.
The Samsung SGH-T349 has a rated battery life of 7 hours talk time and 12.5 days standby time.
