Samsung intros Star S5230 and Preston S5600 touchscreen phones

samsung-preston-3 Extending series of any gadget or device not only keeps a company updated, but the readers as well. Taking a clue from this, Samsung has announced the extending of its full-touchscreen mobile phone range. This time, the company rolls out its Star S5230 & Samsung Preston S5600. The two new handsets are easy to use with several multimedia attributes and compact designs.

VP and Head, JK Shin, Executive, of Mobile Communications division, and Samsung Electronics, said, “Samsung Star and Samsung Preston are major additions to our full-touch screen mobile portfolio, sporting all the needed functions in one single device.”

He added, “The products will surely be one of our historical best selling mobiles. Concentrating on our consumer-oriented strategy, Samsung will offer a lot of full touch products for every lifestyle.”

The company says that the two handsets have been the talk of the town before their availability, chiefly Samsung Star whose 2 mln units are already in demand. As the features, both the phones are user-friendly thanks to their glaring attributes such as lesture Lock, Touch Wiz User Interface, 3.2mp camera and compact and slim look. The phones are also built-in with Shazam’s Find Music service, which is highly useful in music recognition.

As the reviews, Samsung Star has splashes of colors such as; snow white and soft pink comes packed with 50 MB internal memory, which is expandable around 8GB. It also carries a QWERTY soft keyboard as well as other handwriting attributes.

Samsung Preston comes hued in snow white, charcoal grey and sweet pink colors. It carries 2.8-inch QVGA full-touch screen and 80 MB memory that has microSD slot of around 8GB. Besides, its music recognition service boasts multi-codec support like MPEG4, H.263 and WMV.

Samsung Star can be availed in Middle East Africa, Europe, South East Asia, South West Asia as well as Latin America, whereas, Samsung Preston is slated to be made available in Asia and Europe from May. Up till now, there is no info as to its pricing.

Please help. I like this phone very much, had it a few days. But please help: Just want to know, I receive hotmail email messages on it. Twice now it said I have a new email message, but after downloading and retrieving, this "new" message, it comes up is a duplicate of the last message. Then it is lost. Was there indeed an new message or not? Can anyone help please??

Thank you for that Ria! I bought the Star with WiFi and contrary to what I've read, the Wi Fi works perfectly well under any circumstances, and I also don't have the problems with the in-call voice quality (some say it cuts the call for 5 seconds at a time). I love how it is not very sensitive to the touch like the iPhone but not very hard to navigate either. I'm not very fond of the 3-part screen on the homepage. It cuts the wallpaper to 3 parts, argh. But apart from some personal issues (like since I'm a fast texter, I've gotten used to the buttons on a normal phone, so it's hard to adjust to having your eyes glued to your phone everytime you text), I can say I'm very happy with my phone! Camera, video quality, the apps, personalization, Samsung Star it is! :)

Hi Byron, unfortunately the samsung preston does not have an accelerometer feature and it does not have qwerty keypad

Hi Anne, I used to work for Samsung Philippines. There is no difference. It is just called S5233 to indicate that it is released in the Philippine market

Guys D samsng s5230 is ossum mob havin all features. the touch is smooth and very fine.
the main problem is that this phone can store only 500 msg and not more than that. but overall it is `much better than LG cookie.

samsung star is superb phone. i bought one to gift my wife and its worthy. the mobile has all the features. the main thing is, it is very cheap. mustb buy phone. if u are a nokia lover, thry this one. just like me. its an eye catcher mobile

I bought this cell about two weeks back and it WORKS LIKE A CHARM... the phone has almost all features (except wifi and other less used techs) and the battery backup is awesome too. Its a must buy if u wanna shed about Rs.9300 ($ 190) and still want a TOUCHPHONE. Also, its better than the LG cookie as cookie has a VERY BAD battery backup. Go for it ppl, it adds a lot of charm... BANG ON!!!
