Samsung expands Ultra-Stylish, Compact Second Generation DVD Player

samsung-dvd-h1080Samsung Electronics has announced the availability of its 2nd-Gen DVD player, which is billed as the DVD-H1080. A successor to pebble-like DVD-F1080 model that was rolled out last year, the latest DVD-H1080 player is claimed to be as compact as the original. A little larger than the DVD discs it spins, the device is weighed only over two pounds. The high-performance digital entertainment device also brags of Samsung’s incredible Touch of Color (ToC) design.

Reid Sullivan, vice president of Audio/Video and Digital Imaging Marketing at Samsung Electronics America, was quoted as saying, “The DVD-H1080 player furthers Samsung’s strong desire to offer a truly passion-worthy digital entertainment experience. Consumers will attain an unheralded degree of style, sophistication, and DVD playback performance with this new product.”

In spite of its unobtrusive styling, there isn’t definitely anything minimalist regarding the DVD-H1080’s considerable feature set. As its reviews, the DVD-H1080 also claims to give support to 1080p (Full HD) up scaling, and is capable of up-converting standard DVDs to 720p, 1080i or 1080p resolutions. Additionally, a USB Host Play function boasts of providing wide-ranging multi-media file playback capabilities, comprising support for JPEG files and DivX, MP3.

These capabilities make sure a really versatile home theater experience. Not merely a normal DVD box designed for trouble-free disc playback, the DVD-H1080 will be capable of functioning as an entertainment hub for the screening movies, living room, music, as well as pictures all from a USB stick.

Tough I have already given a brief intro of the product on January 10, there was not much to talk about as to its features and availability. Besides, more of the product could not be brought to just because, it was being discussed along with Samsung’s other products that included Samsung’s Blu-ray players – BD-P4600, BD-P3600, BD8200. Even now there is no info as to its pricing, but talking about its availability, the latest DVD-H1080 player will be made available in the first half of 2009. So, your temptation to touch the slimiest DVD Player will be quenched when comes in the market. Till then wait!
