Though Kyocera has bought the Sanyo but the latest handset still keeps its design features that are typical to other Sanyo handsets. The cell phones from Sanyo till this date are very basic phones that are good for the users who use their handsets for nothing more than the basic communication. All the handsets from Sanyo are available via Sprint Nextel, and same is true for the latest handset, the Sanyo SCP-3810. The SCP-3810 is nothing more than basic handset but it provides performance suited to its caliber along with solid build quality. The SCP-3810 is available for $249 or free with service contract and $50 mail-in rebate from Sprint Nextel.
The SCP-3810 has all the design features of typical Sanyo handsets be it navigation array, display or boxy design. At 3.8×2x0.7 inches, the handset has very compact profile and weighs just 3.9 ounces. Like most inexpensive handsets, the SCP-3810 has very small external display. The display becomes invisible when the backlight is off. The display shows only numeric caller ID and time but it doesn’t show photo caller ID, signal strength, date or battery life. The external features include micro USB charger, volume rocker, camera button, 2.5mm headset jack, camera lens and speaker.
The internal display is slightly larger at 2.4 inches. It has resolution of 320×240 pixels and supports 65,536 color hues. The display size and the graphics look okay considering the caliber of this phone. Like other Sanyo handsets, the SCP-3810 sports a large navigation array consisting of circular toggle surrounding OK button, Back button, two soft keys, and a dedicated camera key.
When it comes to features, the SCP-3810 offers only basic features that are optimum for daily communication. You can save 300 contacts in your phone along with multiple phone numbers, e-mail IDs, address, and notes for every contact. Other features that you get include world clock, calendar, multimedia messaging, threaded text messaging, alarm, speakerphone, calculator, timer, and stopwatch. There are a number of advanced features such as IM, Bluetooth, voice commands, voice recorder, voice dialing, Sprint Navigator, USB mass storage, PC syncing, supports for few POP3/IMAP4 e-mail accounts, 1.3-megapixel camera (no video recording), and support for Sprint NFL Mobile Live and Nascar Cup Mobile.
The SCP-3810 promises up to 5.8 hours of talk time.
