Sanyo VPC-WH1 HD Waterproof Flash Memory Camcorder reviews
The all new Sanyo VPC provides and exciting yet subtle experience to HD camcorders. The waterproof features beyond doubt appeals to the consumers and at the same time its low price is a major attraction. Regardless of its mediocre image quality we can decently offset this disadvantage with its price and flexibility. At a mere $400 asking price the Sanyo VPC is one of the inexpensive camcorders in its type.
The 720p HD video in the Sanyo VPC records at 30 frames per second and displays at a reduced resolution and color. The accuracy of motion capture is blurry but not disastrous. The bad news is that it sports a 1.1 MP still image camera, which undoubtedly means image distortion and very low resolution. The camcorder houses a 1/6 inch CMOS sensor which is a downturn and apart from that the shake stabilization has been compromised as well.
The Sanyo VPC displays a 2.5 inch LCD panel which isn’t that vibrant but certainly easy to use. The more expensive camcorders in its type display a higher quality of automatic and manual control. Despite of all its shortcomings the VPC is equipped with a 30X optical zoom lens which works flawlessly. The storage cards are SDHC which means that they are economical. The battery life does not disappoint either and runs over 3 hours from a single charge.
The video recording codec used is the MPEG-4 AVE/H.264 and uses a common AAC format for audio. It records the video on a very basic format of AVCHD. The bundled software includes a photo editing application as the TotalMedia Extreme, which allows editing of both video and audio files and conversions to different formats. The tough waterproof construction modestly overcomes its drawbacks, Sanyo guarantees that the VPC will work up to 10 Feet below water and would be efficient for an hour.
The LCD although is hard to see underwater but eh video is very effective when tested under water. There are more waterproof cameras available in the market but none that can compete with the VPC’s price. Let’s look at it this way – if you were to record a clip under pouring rain, would you buy an expensive waterproof cam or an affordable one!
