Another important unveiling in the computer cooling system has been recently made by Scythe, the Japanese specialist in cooling system. Katana, which has been named by the Japanese sword, the Katana 3 CPU cooler (SCKTN-3000) is compatible with Intel sockets 478, LGA 775 and LGA 1366. This CPU cooling system is further compatible with AMD sockets 754, 939, 940, AM2, AM2+ and AM3 processors.
As its reviews, the Katana 3 CPU Cooler system measures 3.70 x 4.25 x 5.63 inches (9.4 cm x 10.8 cm x 14.3 cm) and weighs approximately 15.98 oz (495 grams). The cooling system is featured with six copper heatpipes, a nickel plated copper base and a 92 mm fan. The six copper heatpipes spreads across the full tower of aluminum fins that form the Katana 3 CPU Cooler. As the featurs, the speed of the integrated fan of the cooling system is controlled by PWM between 300 RPM (Rotations Per Minute) and 2500 RPM (Rotations Per Minute). As per the data sheet, the Katana 3 CPU cooler produces a maximum noise level of 31.07 dBA at 3000 RPM and 7.2 dBA when spinning at 300 RPM. Due to the Versatile Tool-Free Multiplatform System (VTMS), the mounting of Katana 3 CPU heatsink becomes much easier and without using any tools.
The so called Slant Pipe Structure (SPS) of the Katana 3 CPU cooler not only helps to remove the heat from the CPU cooler, but also takes care of the sensitive components of the motherboard by keeping them cool. The enlarged surface of the Base Plate of the Katana 3 CPU cooler allows dissipation of additional heat, thus increasing the overall performance of the cooler system. The Base Plate is provided with various cooling fins also allows additional heat dissipation without altering the compact design of the entire system. The Katana 3 CPU Cooler is currently available at a suggested retail price of USD $32 and €16.75, excluding tax.
