Seagate launches world’s thinnest storage device

In digital world, slim and sleek has always attracted the customers. The thin devices have numerous advantages for several reasons. The thin devices are highly demanded in every market segment – be mobile or computer. Keeping in mind the market demand, Seagate has geared up to launch its unique storage device, the device is said to revolutionize the storage market.
Dubbed as Momentus Thin, the storage device is claimed to be the world’s thinnest HDD device. It is a wafer-thin 7mm high HDD. The device proves to be of high use for entry-level laptops, ultra-portable, backup devices, high-end netbooks and other devices. In other words, the device caters demands of the diversified users from different market segments.
At 2.5 inch measurement, the thinnest HDD device is about 25% slimmer than the usual 9.5mm 2.5-innchh laptop hard drive. The Seagate hard drive brags all the vibrant features found in other hard drives. First of all, the thin drive features two capacity points, 250GB and 160GB. It has also an 8MB cache. It also comes with a Serial ATA 3 Gb/second interface and a 5400RPM spin speed.
The Momentus Thin drive will certainly useful for the computer makers. It provides them an edge in the market competition over the storage devices for netbooks and laptop PCs. With this launch Seagate has shown its commitment towards fulfilling the demand of the OEM and system integrator partners for thinner laptop PCs.

On the dimensions front, the 250GB HDD is measured 7mm X 70.1mm X 100.55mm and comes with the weight of just 92 grams. The Momentus Thin drive is also claimed to offer the lowest-cost storage for netbooks and thin laptops and does better than 2.5-inch laptop drives as far as power-efficiency and performance are concerned.
Seagate will bring this high profile storage device to the market in January next year.
