SimCity 2009 for iPhone – an excellent, but addictive gaming application

simcity2009SimCity 2009, for iPhone is an expensive but highly addictive application for your iPhone. At a price of $9.99, it is not a cheap iPhone application, but is worth its money at the same time. It is a very good renovation of the game launched in the early 1990s. This new version that is endlessly replay-able, not only gives you a blast from the past, but also makes you feel good. As far as the game is concerned, you are given a stretch of empty terrain, including water bodies, on which you are supposed to create a city. Your city must have zoning territory for residential, commercial, or industrial use. It must have paving roads, underground pipes for water, police and fire stations, power plants, schools, and landmarks and many other things that you may find in a city. You also have to manage the city budget, monitor pollution and crime, and have to also keep your Sim citizens happy.

You start in the year 1900 and proceed day by day through this century. The game allows you to play at double or triple speed to move things along in the early years. As its reviews, with the passage of time in the game, you get access to modern technologies like nuclear power plants and trash incinerators. If you want to create further interest, you can unleash disasters like fire, earthquake, UFO attack etc. on your city. Reading the extensive help section of the game lets you control your city and the game better. You also get access to suggestions by advisers and petitioners. The interface of this game needs a special mention. This game comes with tap-able icons, retro graphics and brilliant animations. However, on the downside, the game recommends a reboot of your iPhone the first time you load it. You may also find the game crashing very often. Even though the SimCity 2009 lacks the use of 3D graphics or the accelerometer, it is an excellent game that makes iPhone gamers desperate for strategy instead of real-time action.
