Headphone features integrated MP3 player is not a new concept but till now they have failed to create much impression among the users. It’s a bit disappointing as this allows the user to do away with wires. The Skullcandy is looking to gain some market with its Double Agent Headphones which are priced at $99.95. The wearer can use them as an MP3 player/ headphone or as headphones with separate audio device. The concept of dual purpose is quite cool but the headphones could have been more comfortable with better sound quality.
The headphones are available in bright colors and funky accents which is a trademark of the company. There are three color variations: brown with orange and white accents, green with lime and white accents, and all black with minor gray accents. The green or brown models will make you stand out of the crowd while the all black provides a classic look.
The Skullcandy Double Agent is designed like a standard headphone with compact ear cups. The band designed to wear on the farther back of the head, terminates into oblong ear cups which measures 3.3 inches by 2.2 inches. The ear cups are trimmed with leatherette padding with firmly built cups that fits the ears tightly. Due to tight fit, the headphones are not the most comfortable. An SD card slot is provided on the right ear cup for loading the music. Also, a micro USB jack with MP3 playback control like play, pause, power, volume and track shuttle, is provided on the right ear cup. The device is provided with a cable for syncing and charging and another cable for connecting with other MP3 player.
The music from internal MP3 player gives you a mixed experience as there is no hassle of wires but the sound quality is just ordinary. Moreover the lack of screen causes it difficult to navigate, and the tracks play in alphanumeric order which does seem to be appealing. Attaching the headphones to external audio source solves the navigation issues but it does not affect the sound quality. The bass is a bit mushy but on the other hand mids sound nice. But overall sound quality is unimpressive. So, unless your aim is to stand out of the crowd, these headphones are not the best option.
