The $400 camera from Sony offers you a touch-screen with 10.1-megapixel camera. Measuring 2.4x3.8x0.8 inches, the hefty camera weighs 5.5 ounces. The front face of the camera features a sliding shield that can be shifted downwards to access the lens. The camera is controlled by the functions accessed through its 3.5-inch touch screen but it also has some physical controls which are located on the top edge of the camera. These controls are zoom, shutter release, still/video switch, power and playback. The large lens of T500 is capable of 5X zoom along with focal range of 5.8mm to 29.0mm.
The touch screen interface is simple to use and the icons are easily accessible. The display of T500 works as the viewfinder, which is a nice addition. The Sony DSC T500 is not the fastest camera by any means but it gives out pretty decent performance. The T500 takes 2.41 seconds when it starts for the first time and it takes 3.41 seconds to refresh. The most disappointing thing is the shutter lag which is 0.73 seconds. The shutter lag is on higher side as compared to other point-and-shoot cameras.
The T500 offers sharp images mostly but you’ll notice some distortion at the edges. The images up to ISO 800 are pretty good with very little noise though the camera is capable of taking images up to ISO 3200.
The Sony Cyber Shot DSC T500 is also capable of shooting small clips and you may give it a try if you like to shoot videos on point-and-shoot cameras. The camera can shoot videos at 1920x720 pixels and 30 frames per second. It means that T500 can produce more detailed and better video than standard definition cameras. But you need to hold the camera still while shooting. So the video comes a little bumpy even with its image stabilization feature.
Another thing that you will like about the camera is that it houses an HDMI port. So, you can play your videos on HDTV. The T500 also offers the aspect ratio of 16:9 which no other point-and-shoot camera offers. The Sony Cyber-shotDSC-T500 is priced at $399.
