The sensor employs BIONZ processor and supports other resolutions like 4912 x 1080, 3648 x 2736, 4896 x 2752, 3424 x 1920, 1920 x 1080, 2592 x 1944 and 640 x 480 pixels. The sensor photo detectors show 18.9 MP, but it boasts of 18.2 MP effective pixels. The aspect ratio of the images is either 4:3 or 16:9.


The powerful lens of the Sony Cybershot DSC-HX30V has a focal length of 20 to 500 mm equivalent to 35 mm film length cameras.

Though there is no option for lens mount, but the inbuilt lens offer 20x optical zoom, 40x digital zoom, 9 focal points and a macro focus range of 1 cm. The maximum aperture opening ranges between F3.2 – F5.8 while the shutter speed varies between 30 seconds and 1/1600 second. The exposure compensation for the shooter is +/- 2 EV (at 1/3 EV steps).


The fixed XtraFine TruBlack TFT LCD display located at the rear end of the device measures 3 inches diagonally and has a maximum resolution of 921600 dots. There is no viewfinder or touchscreen option for the display, but you will get the Live View feature as a consolation.
