Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W170 is built-in with a 10.1-megapixel sensor, a 2.7? LCD display and a Zeiss 5x optical zoom. The model also comes with an optical viewfinder, a potentially exceptional feature, which helps while the LCD is hard to look at, or while conserving power. Prized around US$300, the W-series lineup sports in a wider variety of color options. It comes in blue, pink, red and champagne gold.
As its review, the DSC-W170 comes built-in with Sony’s Super SteadyShot optical image stabilization to lessen blur brought about by camera shake at sluggish shutter speeds. Additional Sony W170 specifications are: a Memory Stick Duo/PRO Duo card slot, 15MB of incorporated memory and ISO sensitivity to most of ISO 3200. The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W170 is powered by a proprietary Lithium-ion rechargeable battery, which is capable of taking 370 shots on a charge. In addition, the Sony W170 also comes with high-def component video output, using an optional proprietary cable or cradle.
The Cyber-shot W170 has Sony’s state-of-the-art face detection technology, (Adult priority or Child priority modes) which brag of distinguishing the faces between adults and children. Its built-in camera is capable of detecting up to 8 faces in a frame and can optimize focus, exposure, white balance and flash.
The Cyber-shot W170 also comes enabled with Sony’s avant-garde (iSCN) intelligent scene recognition technology, which automatically lets the camera decide on what accor-ding to it is the optimal scene mode for a range of shooting situations. In ultramodern iSCN mode, the camera doesn’t just capture a photo founded on the user’s settings, but it captures a 2nd photo if it decides that an additional setting would give in better results. The user then is provided with two images to opt from.
The Sony W170 is packed with lots of other characteristics, like it has Sony’s D-Range Optimizer to regain image feature in photos with dark shadows or harsh highlights; semi-manual focus, which lets you opt for the focusing distance founded on your subject’s position; and in-camera editing features for example: “unsharp mask” in order to sharpen images.
