Sony has recently launched its entry level standard definition camcorder. This camcorder is a hard drive based device. The name of this model is the Handycam DCR-SR47. The camcorder comes across as a small sized device that is attractive in terms of looks and hands on in terms of usage. It features a mammoth storage capacity and also boasts of a mega zoom lens.
The device does not feature a lot of shooting options but sports a menu that has a touch screen based interface. Do not expect to shoot high definition videos with this device as it’s a mere entry level standard definition camcorder. Sony has launched this device keeping in mind users who aim for an economical mega zoom camcorder and are not very fussy about the video quality from the same.

The camcorder boasts of a massive 60 GB of internal storage space. If you are recording at the highest quality on the device, you will get a recording time of 15 hours and 10 minutes. This camcorder offers both mechanical and electronic image stabilization. The Lithium ion rechargeable battery of this camcorder offers 90 minutes of shooting on a single round of charge.
The camcorder is available in black, red, and blue colors. It is very comfortable to use. The presence of a manual lens cover is a bit disappointing. Connectivity options on it include mini USB port, AV output, etc. The touch screen menu comprises controls for adjusting white balance, scene modes, focus settings, and color effects.
The SR47 performs extremely well. The overall quality of the video is soft but the colors are reproduced vivid, sharp, and natural. You might also observe noise and fringing in the output.
