Sony ICF-CL75ip

Sony, a very consistent source of technology, has launched Sony ICF-CL75iP. It is an alarm clock cum iPod/iPhone dock. When you first look at it you won’t believe that it’s an iPod dock as the dock is well crafted in the product. The digital picture frame is supported by nice slim, shiny body with vibrant WVGA 7inch display. As compared to previous ICF-C8WM, it is not heavy and hence portable.

There are no buttons on the back making the device look absurd. The Snooze button is fitted on the top which is more convenient for users. On the back there is a USB slot and memory card reader. The adapter is heavy and not detachable, and the absence of a remote control might surprise the user as it causes unwanted inconvenience. One main disadvantage is the lack of touch screen. Most multimedia devices are accompanied by a responsive touch screen and without it the gadget seems primitive.

It comes with 12-hour and 24-hour format clock with steady or continuously changing background. When you want to access a function the first question you will be asked is regarding the source. It can be internal memory which is 1 GB, memory card slot or USB, this function is rather annoying and there is no way to bypass this system. The video player is very basic and not built for playing movies. Though browsing the photos seems easy and hassle free, you cannot delete the default images of Sony, which is irritating.

ICF-CL75iP’s radio function stores 30 slots. You can set any radio station for alarm clock. Sound quality of the device is excellent due to front stereo speakers with 1W + 1W RMS output. iPod and iPhone docking function stands out as a feature on its own but which is, frankly, not required. You will be shocked after noticing that the device does not read your photos from the iPhone.

Import function can be used to transfer data like pictures, music and videos. However, data can not be directly transferred from iPhone. It can be transferred from USB or memory card slot. Despite of its major disadvantages the ICF-CL75iP is a multifunctional device, but it is always said that it is viable to be a master of one trade rather than a jack of none.
