Sony rolls out Reader Daily Edition

Sony has enlivened the digital reading. The company has now introduced the latest and much-awaited Reader Daily Edition, which boasts of offering wireless 3G connectivity.
As the reviews, the Reader Daily edition allows users to browse, purchase and download books. Besides, they can also opt for magazines and newspapers. All this is made possible by the wireless access via AT&T’s 3G mobile broadband network to Sony’s eBook store from anywhere in the U.S.
Users don’t need to pay any monthly fee or transaction charges for the basic wireless connectivity. Users can also side load personal docs or content from other sites with the help of a USB drive.
As its features, the Reader Daily edition built-in with a 7-inch wide, touchscreen display. It also allows a useful content layout for magazines and newspapers, both in portrait or landscape mode. The portrait view helps users view nearly 30-35 lines of text. The device boasts of high contrast ratio with 16 levels of grayscale, ensuring clear and crisp text. The digital reader comes built-in with adequate internal memory, and can hold over one thousand standard eBooks. Plus, it also has expansion slots.
Besides the daily edition, Sony rolled out Reader Pocket Edition and the Reader Touch Edition, at the start of this. Sony’s Pocket version comes built-in with a 5-inch electronic paper display and has been enclosed in an elegant chassis. The Pocket reader comes in rose, navy blue and silver colors.
While, the Reader Touch Edition boasts of a responsive, menu-driven 6-inch touchscreen panel. The device comes with a stylus pen that helps users turn pages, navigate, highlight and take notes. The device comes colored in black, red and silver.
The Reader Daily Edition is slated to be made available in December, 2009, the Reader Touch Edition and the Reader Pocket Edition will come very soon. The Reader Pocket comes at $199 (approx. Rs. 9,731), while the Reader Touch Edition has been priced $299 (approx. Rs. 14,627). The Reader daily edition is priced for $399 (approx. Rs. 19,503).
