The new Sony Vaio L117FX is a very expensive set of electronics. At $1999, the 24-inch Sony Vaio is far expensive than the 27-inch Apple iMac, which is priced at $1,699. Even though, the Sony Vaio provides great combination of power and performance but it is very expensive and faces tough competition from other desktop systems like Apple iMac and HP TouchSmart 600. Though the Sony lacks the multitouch software that you will get with HP TouchSmart, it offers better performance and is a better entertainment PC than the HP.
The Sony Vaio L117FX is between Sony’s JS and LV series desktop systems on the design front. Its chassis is borrowed from the JS series desktop, while the features like size, HDMI video port and wall-mounting capability, are borrowed from the LV series desktops. The HP TouchSmart also comes with wall mounting and you can remove its feet from the display, which is not the case with Sony. Though, it’s not a big issue but it definitely makes the system look weird when mounted on the wall. The HDMI-out port is also available with Apple, Asus and HP desktops but the Sony goes one step ahead with something called “picture-in-picture” capability. This feature allows you to connect multiple HDMI video sources to the system and you can use them separately or together. However, you cannot record the HD videos without the TV tuner.

The Sony Vaio runs on Windows 7 operating system and it allows it to offer multitouch support but it lacks the Sony’s proprietary touch software, which is the biggest advantage of HP touchSmart. However, the multitouch support is quite useful when the system is mounted on the wall.
For $1999, the Sony Vaio offers you 24-inch display with HD resolution of 1,920×1,080 pixels. It runs on 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400S CPU and 6GB 800MHz DDR2 SDRAM. The system uses 1GB Nvidia GeForce GT 240M graphics card and comes with 1TB hard drive, which is plenty of space. Other features include Blu-ray burner, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth, and TV Tuner.

There are plenty of options for connectivity and networking such as HDMI-out port, optical S/PDIF audio output, standard pair of audio jacks, media card reader, five USB 2.0 ports, and mini FireWire 400 input.
