Splashtop, unveiled in October 2007, is an instant-on operating system favored by each one and has been honored by “Most Innovative Product” by PC World. Splashtop 2.0 is an upgraded version of Splashtop. At CES 2010 held in Las Vegas, Splashtop 2.0, subsequent generation of awarded software, has been made available officially. Now netbooks of all salient companies like Acer, ASUS, HP and others will be operated by this software.

Splashtop 2.0 is an instant-on platform enhancing experience of computing. It simply allows you to surf, mail and connects you with your friends as soon as you turn on PC. It is dubbed as QuickStart by Lenovo, QuickWeb by HP while ASUS termed it as ExpressGate. With 3G, DSL and WiFi it provides easy access to Internet, resulting into instant computing.

Splashtop 2.0 is updated with some great aspects. You can get your favorite applications like Twitter, Orkut, Facebook and YouTube with just one click. Its new redesigned Application dock contains icons for such web applications along with its native icons. In addition, it can modify texture and look of your desktop with pre-loaded trendy wallpapers and packages which can be personalized as well as you can create your own shortcuts.

Mail application can be organized to open several mail services like Gmail and Yahoo mail and will indicate user on receiving new message. Its dynamic home page offers details of sites recently visited. When this Splashtop 2.0 is incorporated with touchscreen devices, touch is supported by it which results into responsive and smooth screen; but function of multitouch is not supported. User can search sites before launching with the help of instant search feature. It gives experience of visual navigation by displaying thumbnails of most-visited links.
