Toshiba Satellite E105 is a14.1-inch laptop and costs just $1,099 which offers you a big bundle of features with two-year warranty, and 4 hours of battery life. If you are a gamer, its integrated graphics might disappoint you as they don’t have enough oomph for even basic 3D games.
Unlike other the glossy black case of other Satellites, the Satellite E105has subdued gray-an-copper color scheme. The rectangular boxy shape gives a feeling that the device is solid enough to take bumps of everyday use. The E105 is lighter than 14-inch and 15.4-inch laptops although it is equipped with eight cell battery. It is just 0.2 pounds heavier than the 13.3-inch HP Pavilion dv3510nr.
The glossy 14.1-inch display has typical 1280×800 resolution and produces a little reflection but it’s comfortable to use it for Web surfing to watching videos. A webcam sits just above the screen. The keypad is comfortable to use and backlighting proves to be quite handy while working in dim light. The touch pad ahs adequate size but the mouse buttons are a bit small as fingerprint reader lies between them. A row of touch sensitive buttons on the right side acts as shortcut for media playback and volume control.
The E105 is first non-Apple laptop to remove both VGA connection and modem jack. It also lacks a mini-Fire Wire port and PC card/Express card slot which is definitely a miss. You can connect the E105 to your HDTV through an HDMI-out port. One USB port doubles as eSATA port to have a high speed connection to external hard drive.
The Satellite is available in single fixed configuration, with 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 processor and integrated Intel graphics. It also sports 4GB of 800MHz RAM with 64-bit Windows Vista. Its 320GB hard disk is enough for music, video and photos. The E105 outperforms on Photoshop test among the group of evenly matched group of laptops. The Satellite E105 sports integrated Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics which is not good enough for playing even the basic 3D games, while its nearest competitor HP Pavilion dv3510nr supports graphics card with 512MB of video memory.
