Toshiba Satellite L455-S5975 Reviews – a laptop which is cheaper than most Netbooks
The all new Toshiba L455-S5975 is an inexpensive laptop, which is priced lower than most Netbooks even though it’s a mainstream laptop. With a very attractive price of just $330, the laptop is priced as low as $50 as compared to most netbooks and it runs on latest Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. There is lot to like about this laptop, if you are looking for a budget laptop and your expectations are very moderate.
The laptop is not going to provide lighting fast performance as it runs on dated 2.2GHz Intel Celeron 900 processor and comes equipped with 2GB of 800MHz DDR2 memory. The graphics are managed by Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics card, which are inferior as compared to most netbooks. Other components include Mobile Intel GM45 chipset and moderate hard drive of 250GB. It is quite evident that the laptop is meant for basic tasks like media-playing, music playing and e-mail. It doesn’t have multitasking or multimedia capabilities.
The laptop can be carried around as it weighs just 5.8 pounds and measures 15.1 inches wide, 10.5 inches deep and 1.5 inches high. Although, it is cheaper than a netbook but it can not be called as replacement for a netbook as most netbooks have faster CPU and larger memory. Moreover, they are more portable and have better graphic capabilities. The 15.6-inch display and larger keyboard are the only advantages that this laptop has as compared to a netbook.

The Toshiba L455-S5975 has very glossy 15.6-inch LCD that offers native resolution of 1,366×768 pixels and 16:9 aspect ratio. The display resolution is quite standard for most laptops of its size. The display is not the sharpest and view angle is also restricted unlike LED-backlit displays.

There are number of omissions in the ports and expansion department. There is no HDMI-port but you get VGA-out port video. You do get three USB 2.0, SD card reader, Ethernet, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi and DVD burner. But there is no ExpressCard or Bluetooth.
