Uganda Telecom intros solar-powered mobile phone

Zte-Solar-phonesToday we have got many solar- powered mobile handsets. The demand of solar-powered handsets is on the rise due to the increasing global warming. This is the biggest threat to the existence of Man. But now, since man has understood the importance and thought of protecting it, there are many things in the market that are either eco-friendly or are based on the solar energy.

Taking a clue from this, the companies too have tightened their belts to provide safety to the environment by manufacturing the products that suit both the situations. One of the companies that have joined the race is known as Uganda Telecom and the product rolled out by the company is christened as Kasana, which is driven by solar power. Initially it takes help from electricity to get charged but there after the solar energy helps it get fully charged.

Uganda telecom’s chief marketing officer, Mona Lisa Brookshire, was quoted to say that Uganda telecom and ZTE have together inked a definitive agreement to supply the solar-powered telephone. The agreement also makes the two companies the stand alone operator in the world of solar-powered handsets.

Adding more to the points, she further said that this product will prove to be of high use for a number of our customers in saving money as you don’t have to be dependant on the electricity to get hooked.

As its reviews, the solar powered handset is made of used material that helps it be fully eco- friendly product. As the feaures, the Kasana also boasts of an in-built solar panel, which helps have it charged by making use of sunrays. The solar-powered phone also boasts of offering an unbelievable 12 hrs of talk-time by letting the phone be exposed to sun for 1hr. Besides, power outlet it need to be turned helpful to having it charged.

Uganda telecom has not so far divulged the details about its solar powered Kasana. It is estimated that not more than 10% of the country’s populace is able to access electricity grid. Taking a look at the available statistics, the solar-powered mobile phones are surely going to assist people to talk efficiently and effectively.
