UMID introduces the smallest than ever Mobile Internet Device (MID)
UMID, a Korean company has geared the mobile market by introducing its smallest and smartest Mobile Internet Device (MID) at Global Mobile Vision Expo 2008 (GMV 2008), held on November 11, 2008 at the Seoul Imperial Palace Hotel. This powerful, yet smallest mobile gadget weighs only 315 grams and it’s dimension in terms of size is estimated to be around Nintendo DS and Everun Note.
This tiny MID is configured with an Intel Atom processor of 1.1GHz or 1.33GHz, a DDR2 533MHz RAM of 512MB to 1GB, a solid-state storage of 8GB to 32GB and includes WiBro, WiMAX, HSDPA, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. It is featured with a clamshell of 4.8 inch and 1024 x 600 pixel touch-screen LCD display, a full QWERTY keyboard and 1.3 megapixel built-in web-camera attached next to it. It also includes DMB-T and DVB-T digital TV tuners, covering the popular Korean, Japanese and European standards. A microSD slot, a USIM card slot (especially for Korean use) and a single mini-USB 2.0 port are some of the added features of this tiny MID.
It supports Windows XP, Vista and Linux Operating System – in brief can ran anything except Windows CE or a Linux stripped down version. The amount and level of technology packed all into this tiny gadget is really unbelievable – but it is all real. Although it is a revolutionary introduction, but it’s actual release date and pricing information are still not yet stated.
