Velocity Micro’s Edge Z55 is one of the very few PCs in the market that use Intel’s new Core i7 processor. This PC belongs to the family of gaming machines and is priced at $2,499. The PC is a lot faster than its closest competitor, the Core i7-based Gateway. In plain and simple words, the PC is expensive but it is worth its price. The computer is provided with no removable hard-drive trays or any front panel access doors. The PC is comes with an excellent finish, an expertly wired interior, and blue LED lighting. The room inside the case is predominantly occupied by the pair of double-wide Radeon HD 4870 cards. The Core i7 920 CPU in this PC is not the fastest of Intel’s new processor family. The CPU has the capability to ramp up to 3.0GHz. The PC has 6 GB of DDR3 SDRAM. This is because the new chipset in the CPU needs memory in multiples of three, and that is the reason for the 6 GB RAM. The computer runs the 64-bit Windows Vista Home Premium SP1.

The Velocity Micro’s Edge Z55 boasts of the Intel X58 chipset as its motherboard. As far as graphics are concerned, it brags of a couple of 512MB ATI Radeon HD 4870 graphics cards. The computer is excellent in terms of storage space. Its hard drive has a maximum storage capacity of 750 GB. The Hitachi hard drive in the system gives 7,200 rpm. As far as the optical drive is concerned, the computer boasts of a dual-layer DVD burner.

The Edge Z55 brags of two HDMI connections, one on each of its graphics cards. The computer has a pair of eSATA ports that ensure fast external hard-drive connections. The computer also has a Gigabit Ethernet port but lacks a wireless network adapter. The computer also houses digital and analog audio jacks, USB ports, and a media card reader. The 3DMark Vantage benchmark tool on the desktop serves as excellent software. The GPU-Z software displays all the graphics card information on the system. The Velocity Micro Edge Z-55 is great on performance and makes gaming on it an unusually good experience. Its impressive features, together with its performance, make it an exceptionally good gaming device.
