Verizon Wireless CDM8950 Reviews – cheapest 3G music phone
Measuring 3.7×1.9×0.8 inches (HWD), the CDM8950 is an ordinary looking music phone from Verizon Wireless. The handset is designed in gray and black casing having very sharp corners. The handset sports a 1-inch external display, which supports 65k colors and displays necessary information like caller ID, time, date, signal strength, and battery.
The external display also works as self-portrait viewfinder, when you are using the camera and it also displays the currently playing track when the music application is being used. The camera is located just above the external display.
The CDM8950 is a music phone, which is evident by the music application controls that are located just below the external display. The controls can be used to perform various functions when the phone is closed. An external speaker is located under a grille, just below the music controls.
The CDM8950 sports a 2-inch internal display, which has native resolution of 176×220 pixels and supports 262k colors. Just below the display, you will find standard navigation array that consists of square navigation toggle with central OK button, two soft keys, dedicated text message key, dedicated speakerphone control, Clear button, and the Send and End/Power buttons. The three arrows of four-way toggle can be assigned three user defined function while the fourth arrow doubles as shortcut for My Shortcuts menu.
The left edge houses the volume rocker along with voice command key and the headset jack, while right edge of the handset houses dedicated camera key and microSD card slot.
The handset offers nice blend of basic and advanced features. The basic features include the 500-entry phone book, speakerphone, vibrate mode, text messaging, MMS, alarm clock, stopwatch, world clock, calculator, tip calculator, calendar, voice commands, and a notepad.
The advanced features include Bluetooth, mobile IM, integrated GPS, wireless Web browser, mobile e-mail and mobile Web e-mail. The CDM8950 is 3G handset, which supports Verizon’s 3G services like V Cast Video, and V Cast Music.
The handset sports a 1.3-megapixel camera and built-in camcorder. The camera can capture images in four resolutions from 1280×960 down to 160×120 and can record 176×144 videos.
The Verizon Wireless CDM8950 provides 4.7 hours of talk time and 11.7 days of standby time.
