Ipswitch has launched, WhatsUp Gold v12 that is a powerful network monitoring solution. The product is aimed at helping IT managers take better control of their business infrastructure. It can also perform the task of a useful network scanning tool for collecting SNMP data from devices. The product allows managers to identify network failures before they go out of hand. It also searches for all network devices and lets the user choose the devices to be monitored. So, it can be said that this software gives standards-based monitoring of any network device on Windows networks.

Using this software, the user can create active monitors to poll the services of a device and view the messages sent across the network. The performance monitors about the resources like disk, CPU and interfaces. Whatsup gold, depending upon the responses received from polling, notifies the user about any change through email or SMS alerts, or by restarting a service. The reports from the software are very satisfying from the point of view of any IT business. The software provides an insight into the network’s current status and performance. The Windows console interface of the software allows the user to configure and manage WhatsUp Gold and its database. The AJAX based web interface of the software gives access to WhatsUp Gold functionality through HTTP or HTTPS from a web browser. WhatsUp Gold is available in four editions, depending upon the nature of the monitoring task. The standard edition of the software is priced at £1,358 while the premium edition is priced at £1,766. While the standard edition provides core network management features, the premium edition has advanced monitoring for Microsoft Exchange, SMTP email servers and SQL Server. The easy to install WhatsUp Gold v12 is pretty straightforward to use and acts as an extremely valuable software for diagnosing transient or intermittent faults in the network.
