Xerox Phaser 6180MFP/N reviews – an excellent printer for most small offices and workgroups

xerox-6180mfpnThe Xerox Phaser 6180MFP/N printer, priced at $999, has all the good points that you expect in a printer. The printer is extremely well suited for printing demands of a small office or workgroup. It might not be as good in faxing and scanning, but is extremely impressive in its printing skills, economy, and paper handling abilities. The 6180MFP is available in two models, the 6180MFP/N and the 6180MFP/D that adds a duplexer in it. These versions are capable of printing, scanning, and faxing over a network. They are also capable of working as standalone copiers, fax machines, and e-mail senders. They comprise a 50-page automatic document feeder (ADF) for multipage documents. The printers offer a standard paper capacity of 400 sheets. This capacity is divided into a 250-sheet drawer and a 150-sheet tray. This again is ample paper handling for needs of a small office or workgroup. The printer, both models, is pretty heavy and weighs a hefty 88.2 pounds. It measures 28.7 by 18.1 by 22.4 inches.

Setting up the printer is a pretty easy task. Just install the toner cartridges, put paper, plug in the cables, and run the installation routine. The printer is compatible with Windows XP along with 2000, 2003 Server, Windows Vista, and Mac OS 10.2 or later versions. The Xerox Web site offers you printer driver downloads for Linux and Unix.

The fax option is hidden in the drop-down list in the printer driver. Xerox’s fax option lets you fax from any program by using just the File and Print command. But in this model, you have to open the properties window and choose the Fax option from the drop-down list. The printer offers printing speeds of 31 pages per minute for monochrome and 20 pages per minute for color prints. The output quality from the printer is excellent. The text is pretty crisp and clear and the colors come out vivid, bright, and natural. The graphics offered by the printer are good enough for any internal business need. The 6180MFP/N is impressive overall and is a good fit for most small offices and workgroups.
