Xmarks – Bookmarks Synchronizer
Formerly known as Foxmarks this bookmarking software seemed to be pointless at first. However realizing its potential and its ability to synchronize bookmarks on multiple desktops or laptops, Xmarks now has carved a space for itself in our browser. It is basically a browser plug-in which allows us to save out bookmarks and passwords on any computer. This add-on works for Windows, Mac and Linux as well so compatibility would not be a hassle.
The 21.6MB application is easy to install and use. Compatible with Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari Xmarks is undeniably a flexible application. After installation a user account has to be created where you would be asked to synchronize your bookmarks and send it to the Xmarks server. After which these bookmarks can be accessed from any PC with a network connection. Installing the add-on the Firefox and the IE it did not show any difference except for its positioning.
Once logged into the Xmarks server users are given options to merge their bookmarks. Advanced options are available to change the method of synchronization. Now launching your favorite sites can be done in a jiffy from any computer in any part of the world. Users can also select individual profiles though the website to determine the types of sites to sync with each computer. Using the Xmarks on a Safari 4 was flawless and showed no sign of faults at all.
Xmarks also has a password synchronizing application which allows users to create codes for specific websites. For example if users have over a hundred user name and password, Xmarks will create one specific PIN code for all and let the user login impeccably. However this password feature is currently available for Firefox 3 users and later versions will be compatible to other browsers. Another feature known as the Smarter Search allows users to search for websites similar to what Google does.
Other features in Xmarks also allow users to select relevant or related data to a particular search. An Xmarks logo on the far right of the browser is clickable to reveal similar contents of the search. Overall Xmarks is user friendly and fast and offers much more than other bookmarks synchronizers.

This is pretty cool, I’ve never heard of xmarks.
Guess I’ll have to check it out.
Thanks for sharing,
