Zalman ZM-NC1500 Notebook Cooler Reviews
Portable computing with all its advantages has one great flaw, which is the time it takes for a notebook to heat up. Since the inception of the notebook cooler technology it has become much easier to run notebooks for a longer period of time. The latest USB powered Zalman ZM-NC1500 is the one cooler that stands up above the rest. With two powerful fans providing exceptional cooling the device can also be adjusted to different fan speeds.
The ZM-NC1500 weighs at a mere 1.8 pounds which is not the lightest of the coolers in its range. Measures at 13.6 x 11.8x x 2.0 inches it is also not the smallest however it provides performance like no other. The base is wider which ensures that it is easier to cool larger notebooks. The design is new and authentic, the front portion sports a grille that enables the air from the cooling fans to blow to the bottom of the notebook.
The ZM-NC1500 is comparatively louder than most other coolers but not so loud to be distracting. The glossy black finish also gives the ZM-NC1500 an attractive look. There are two USB ports on the back and a power button and a dial which is used to control the speed of the fan. One inane feature noticed in this particular cooler is that while testing it did not make a difference in lowering the heat off the top but lowered the temperature off the bottom of the laptop.
While watching HD movies or playing any HD media the notebooks face an uphill challenge. Sometimes temperatures hit as high as 91.5 on some notebooks, the cooler would be able to reduce the temperature by 10 degrees. The StarTech Cooler in its range when tested did not provide the same results and the ZM-NC1500 was able to stand up above the rest.
Overall the ZM-NC1500 is costlier than its competitors but it provides and extra advantages when cooling needs are required. Priced at US$39.90 it has a US$10 premium over the iHome IH which is equipped with three extra ports. However the ZM-NC1500 performs better and the build quality is guaranteed by Zalman.
